Appalachian Mountains

The Appalachian Mountains are an old, rounded range running through eastern North America from Alabama to Newfoundland. Their highest summit, Mount Mitchell in North Carolina, is about 2,037 m. The Appalachian Trail, a long-distance footpath of several months, follows the ridgeline from Georgia to Maine, and many parks and forests lie along it.
