Mauna Kea

Mauna Kea is a dormant shield volcano on the island of Hawaii, United States, rising to 4,207 m above sea level. Measured from its base on the ocean floor, it is among the tallest mountains on Earth. Its summit area is home to major astronomical observatories, and a road and trails lead toward the upper slopes.
