Snæfellsjökull is a glacier-capped stratovolcano of 1,446 m at the tip of the Snæfellsnes peninsula in western Iceland, inside Snæfellsjökull National Park. Jules Verne chose it as the entrance to his Journey to the Center of the Earth. Visitors walk coastal lava fields and sea cliffs, and guided routes cross its ice cap.
