The Soufrière Hills is an active volcanic complex of 1,050 m on Montserrat, a British island territory in the Caribbean. An eruption that began in 1995 buried the former capital Plymouth and changed the shape of the island. The north of the island has forest hiking trails, while the southern part near the volcano lies largely empty of residents.
