Vinson Massif

Vinson Massif, at about 4,892 m, is the highest mountain in Antarctica, in the Sentinel Range of the Ellsworth Mountains. It was first climbed in 1966. Climbers typically fly in by ski-equipped aircraft to a base camp on the glacier, so it is visited almost only on organised expeditions.
