Alps
The Alps are Europe's major mountain system, arcing through France, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Slovenia and Monaco. The highest summit, Mont Blanc, reaches about 4,811 m. The range is crossed by long-distance trails and hut networks, and is used for hiking, mountaineering, climbing and skiing.
