Galeras is an active stratovolcano of 4,276 m in the Andes of southern Colombia, near the city of Pasto in the Nariño department. It stands within a protected flora sanctuary. The mountain looms over the city, and the surrounding highlands have villages, lakes and cloud forest for walks.
