Hekla

Hekla is a stratovolcano of 1,491 m in southern Iceland, long known in medieval Europe as a gateway to the underworld. Its long ridge-shaped summit rises above lava fields and highland plains. Hikers climb it on a marked route from the base, and the area is also visited on highland drives.
