The Neandertal, or Neander Valley, is a small valley near Düsseldorf in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, at about 100 m, formed by the Düssel river. Fossils found here in the nineteenth century gave Neanderthals their name. Today there is a museum and a walking path with information boards along the old quarry area.
