Ojos del Salado

Ojos del Salado, at about 6,893 m, is the highest volcano in the world, on the border of Chile and Argentina in the Atacama region. The terrain is dry, high and barren, with a crater lake near the top. Climbers approach by four-wheel-drive tracks to high refuges, and the ascent is a long, slow acclimatisation journey.
