Sabalan

Sabalan, at about 4,811 m, is an extinct volcano in northwestern Iran, in Ardabil Province, with a crater lake at its summit. It is the third-highest mountain in the country. Hikers and climbers use routes from the Shabil side and from the Sarein hot springs area, and the surrounding region has high pastures where nomadic herders spend summers.
