Zagros Mountains

The Zagros Mountains are a long series of parallel ridges running from northwestern Iran through the Kurdish region of Iraq and into southeastern Turkey. Their highest summits are around 4,409 m. Oak woodland, high pastures and seasonal valleys characterise the range, where hiking and mountaineering are practised and nomadic herding continues.
