Goðafoss is a horseshoe-shaped waterfall on the Skjálfandafljót river in north Iceland, along the Ring Road between Akureyri and Lake Mývatn. Its name means waterfall of the gods, after a medieval story of idols thrown into the water. Footpaths lead to both sides of the falls, and the area is a common stop on northern road trips.
