Mount Everest

Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth, rising to 8,849 m in the Mahalangur Himal of the Himalayas on the Nepal-China border. The first confirmed ascent was in 1953 by Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay. Trekkers in Nepal's Khumbu region walk to Everest Base Camp, while mountaineers attempt the summit from both sides.
