Mount Nyiragongo

Mount Nyiragongo is an active stratovolcano of 3,470 m in the Virunga Mountains of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, near the city of Goma. A lava lake lies inside its deep summit crater. Trekkers climb it with guides on a steep path inside Virunga National Park and sleep in simple cabins on the rim.
