Mount Unzen

Mount Unzen is a volcanic complex of 1,486 m on the Shimabara Peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture, Japan, with several peaks and a lava dome from an eruption in the 1990s. It lies in Unzen-Amakusa National Park and has hot spring towns on its slopes. Hikers ride a ropeway toward the upper area and walk trails among the volcanic peaks.
