Nakasendō
The Nakasendō is one of the old highways of Japan from the Edo period, linking Kyoto and Edo, now Tokyo, through the mountainous interior. Some stretches of stone-paved path and post towns have been kept, especially between Magome and Tsumago in the Kiso Valley. Walkers follow these preserved sections between villages.
