Wachau

The Wachau is a stretch of the Danube valley in Lower Austria, between Melk and Krems, known for steep terraced vineyards, apricot orchards and medieval villages. It is a World Heritage cultural landscape. Cyclists follow the Danube cycle path, and walkers use the Welterbesteig trail on the hillsides above the river.
