Lake Balkhash
Lake Balkhash is a large lake in southeastern Kazakhstan, at 342 m above sea level, with fresh water in its western part and salty water in the east. Its shores are mostly flat steppe and desert, with reed beds and sandy spits. Birdwatchers and anglers are the main visitors.
