Makalu Barun National Park
Makalu Barun National Park in eastern Nepal protects a remote area around Makalu, the fifth-highest mountain in the world, from subtropical valleys up to snow peaks. It has rich plant and animal life, including red pandas and snow leopards. Trekkers cross it on the route to Makalu Base Camp.
