Via Francigena
The Via Francigena is an ancient pilgrimage road from Canterbury in England to Rome in Italy, crossing France and Switzerland. It follows old routes used by pilgrims in the Middle Ages and passes through towns, farmland and alpine passes. Walkers and cyclists follow marked sections today, often in stages.
